This year's Canadian Information Processing Society's Spring Seminar focuses on the adaptive and engaged worker in a changing IT world.

The two day event includes Business, Technical and something new for this year, Student Sessions.  The Business and Technical streams address such topics as agile practices, employee engagement, multimedia in education, balancing business needs and security, as well as the business value of Test Driven Development.  The Student Sessions deal with interactive development and career opportunities within IT.  The first day is composed of multiple sessions including our Keynote Luncheon speaker, Jeff Sandquist, discussing "Working in a Changing IT World".  The day closes with a panel of local and non-local members of the IT community discussing the evolution and opportunities within the industry and is followed by a reception.

The second day features parallel full-day workshops.  In the Business stream workshop, Ray Bender discusses how to affect change within your organization by examining the drivers of change, the change process, the required skills, and the roles in the process.  The workshop utilizes a case study to asses change readiness, sponsor commitment, and the level of resistance to change.  In the Technical stream workshop, Venkat Subramaniam takes an example-driven, in-depth look at Test Driven Development practices, patterns, approaches, and benefits.  He covers issues with testing complex and legacy code, hand-rolled mocks, as well as mock object frameworks. He also discusses automation and continuous integration.

The 2008 CIPS Regina Spring Seminar promises to be an exciting and informative event.  We look forward to seeing you in May!
